The Baroque Cello
As the 18th century advanced, composers began to relish the lyrical, expressive possibilities of the cello. No longer shackled to the bass line, the cello at last found its voice.
Bach and Vivaldi (as well as Lanzetti and Boccherini - themselves both cellists) all composed exhilarating virtuoso music for the instrument.
Fiori’s principal cellist Poppy Walshaw reveals the blossoming art of the baroque cello as a solo instrument in its own right.
Ticket includes buffet lunch afterwards.
