Join us for an afternoon of Jazz to celebrate the finale of our Independent Venue Week offering for this year.
We have the award-winning vocalist Sarah Ellen Hughes who began her career as lead vocalist with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO). She has earned many accolades including winning the 2010 International Jazz Singing Competition, “Jazz Voices," competing against singers from all over the world. Selected as a semi-finalist at the Montreux Jazz Festival Voice Competition, she was lucky enough to perform in front of Quincy Jones. Quincy himself said “Great singing girl, keep doing what you’re doing.”
Sarah has appeared at many of the UK’s top jazz venues including Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Jazz Club, Scarborough Jazz Festival and The Sage, Gateshead. She has released two critically-acclaimed albums, which feature some of this country’s best jazz artists including Dave O’Higgins and Ian Shaw. Her first album was selected as UK Jazz Radio’s “CD of the month” for a record three months running in early 2010.
Jazz Dogs and Albert Hills Wright Trio will also play live during the afternoon.
