Miranda Sykes, Rex Preston, Wildfire Folk

Lichfield Arts will be taking music out into the community when singer songwriter Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston perform at Stonnall Village Hall on Friday 25th March.

In just two years, Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston have become a very popular draw on the live music scene. Miranda Sykes is best known as a third of the critically acclaimed Show of Hands, whilst Rex Preston is rightly lauded as one of the finest Mandolin players in the country.

Support for the evening will be provided by Wildfire Folk, a young folk ensemble that grew and developed out of an outreach project for Lichfield Arts. Now three releases into their musical careers, the popular ensemble has toured and played many of the name folk festivals, as well as developing the musicianship and stagecraft of many local musicians.

Lichfield Arts Artistic director Chris Newcombe said: ‘This will be a great way for people to see some quality music in a more unusual setting. Miranda Sykes has many years with Show of Hands, and is a fine singer, writer, guitarist and bass player, whilst Rex Preston is seen as one of the leading bluegrass and Appalachian Mandolin players on the national roots and folk circuit. Add to this quality musicianship and entertainment of Wildfire Folk, and this will be an unmissable evening for fans of quality music’.

Tickets for the concert are £11.00, £9.90 for friends and £6.50 for under 16’s, with all proceeds going to support the continued growth and development of Wildfire Folk.
