8:30pm - Julie Arsenault
Emily from Bodys happened upon Julie's beautiful album 'Mom Rock' quite by accident on Bandcamp and fell in love (you can too - here julierosearsenault.bandcamp.com/album/mom-rock). Julie lives in Toronto, Canada, but Emily felt compelled to contact Julie and ask if she had any plans to come to the UK to play. They struck a rapport, but Julie said that travelling to play was at that point a pipe dream. Fast forward 12 months and Julie is on her way! Julie's music is a steady balance of strength and vulnerability, with empathy at its core. A charismatic blend of indie-rock and ethereal folk. We can't wait to see her in real life!
9:15pm - Meursault
After a killer sell-out set at the Bodys/Long Division show in May 2019, we have invited Meursault back to woo us again. Meursault are the saddest of the Frightened Rabbit songs and the most beautiful of the King Creosote songs, but entirely with their own heartbreaking and often acerbic personality, and modestly anthemic choruses will have you wailing 'I Will Kill Again'. Drowned in Sound said of them 'Meursault have always displayed a charm and panache that set them apart from their peers. Raw emotion and personal tumult have been fertile ground for Neil Pennycook & co. but it's not all sad strumming and "woe is me" laments; their songs bite and swoon and soar, sometimes softly, sometimes majestically. And while they've been getting steadily more uptempo and polished in their writing, Pennycook's voice can still stab like a dagger of ice to the heart.'
Listen here to their two most recent albums, Crow Hill (2019) album.link/gb/i/1465767341 and I Will Kill Again (2017) song.link/album/gb/i/1192387253
