This unique-in-the-world tribute to one of the blues giants has been given the thumbs up by Peter Chatman, the son of Memphis Slim, and has been performed at The Royal Albert Hall, The Boisdale, Canary Wharf, and was a huge success when previously performed at The Eel Pie Club in 2017 and 2018.
The band features top blues musicians, including Eric Ranzoni who has been playing keyboards with Mud Morganfield (the son of Muddy Waters) for 8 years; Pete Pritchard on bass who has played with, among others, Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, Jerry Lee Lewis, Alvin Lee and Elvis Presley's original guitarist, Scotty Moore. On guitar is Mal Barclay of The Cadillac Kings, and on drums, George Hart.
This tribute was inspired by Eric Ranzoni's meeting in Paris with drummer Michel Denis and pianist Jean-Paul Amouroux who both played with Memphis Slim during his French years later in his life.
