When Love Speaks
St Mary’s Singers present a summer programme that comprises entirely of unaccompanied choral music from the 20th and 21st centuries. The first half is reflective in mood, featuring the awe-inspiring choral music of Rachmaninov, paired with contemporary British music including Philip Moore’s ‘Three Prayers of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’ (which sets the text of Bonhoeffer, the German theologian imprisoned and executed by the Nazis in 1945).
The second half features music by the up and coming young conductor and composer, Owain Park. St Mary’s Singers will pair his Shakespeare Songs with those of Vaughan Williams, as well as Owain’s energetic choral showcase ‘The Wings of the Wind’.
