Work My Claim Tour
Brought to you by The Whitehouse Sessions, we are really excited to welcome Brooks Williams to the Barrel House stage for the first time.
Much loved Americana, blues and folk singer-songwriter and guitarist Brookes Williams is celebrating 30 years on the road by touring with a new album of favourite songs from his back catalogue, Work My Claim. On stage at the Barrel House Brooks will be accompanied by master fiddle player Aaron Catlow.
With a remarkable twenty-nine albums to his name, Brooks is at the top of his game. He may call the UK home now, but his music and manner are firmly rooted in his Statesboro, Georgia, USA, birthplace. His wide smile and gentle grace immediately puts his audience at ease, as he takes on a journey from the roots of the early country-blues legends such as Robert Johnson and Blind Willie McTell, through jazz, folk and Americana. A skilled interpreter of the standards with his own unmistakable twist, he's also a soulful singer and songwriter.
Brooks cut his teeth in the States supporting the likes of Nanci Griffith, Chris Smither, Leo Kottke, Shawn Colvin, and Taj Mahal. Williams is a guitarists' guitarist. Behind his relaxed, easy manner, lies a sophisticated fingerpicker and a mean bottleneck slider. The groove he sets up on his battered Atkin J-43 is second-to-none in acoustic music.
Lauded as one of the top 100 acoustic guitarists of all time, Brooks is a brilliant guitarist and singer/songwriter from Boston, USA, with an instantly endearing manner and 'intelligent lyrics, strong guitar with a dose of the blues and just a touch of John Martyn influence. He has been wowing audiences with his silky voice, hook laden songs, rollicking acoustic and resonator slide guitar. A 24-year veteran of the road, born in Statesboro, Georgia (USA) and now residing in Cambridge England.
