Ballet Central returns to the EM Forster Theatre with a brand new programme featuring works by world-renowned choreographers.
Performed by exceptional young dancers on the cusp of their professional careers Company presents Kenneth MacMillan’s House of Birds, based on the Grimm Brothers’ macabre fairy tale, Jorinda and Joringel; an extract from Frederick Ashton’s acclaimed Valses Nobles et Sentimentales performed to Maurice Ravel’s suite of waltzes; and Jasmin Vardimon' s (in between), a contemporary physical work.
For the first time, Ballet Central is collaborating with Thiago Soares, principal dancer with the Royal Ballet, presenting a new work for the tour, and Calvin Richardson has created a version of The Dying Swan Solo after Mikhail Fokine.
As a spectacular finale Christopher Marney, Artistic Director of Ballet Central revives his Carousel Dances, inspired by the 1945 musical Carousel by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.
