Migrating from Southport to the primed-for-dance paradise of Croatia with their seventh edition, Southport Weekender presents SuncéBeat 7 this July 20th – 27th, 2016. The closing crescendo of it’s parent festival in 2015 has set the stage for this latest event on the Croatian shore, with all the credit of a proud legacy from past parties. The Garden Tisno will provide just the sun-washed, beautiful backdrop for the latest SuncéBeat installment.
As of Summer ’16 SuncéBeat begins beaching revelers in it’s dance dreamland, drifting on boat parties in the bay and dancing up a sandstorm to classic House cuts. Promising a change of scenery but no change of heart, Southport Weekender’s SuncéBeat 7 holiday has already begun to make its mark on calendars!

A South African DJ/producer whose quirky, melodic deep house style has swept Europe's club scene in recent years, expect quality house infused with jazz and disco vibes. Considering his meteoric rise to fame, it would be easy to stereotype Black Coffee as just another black diamond, a BEE beat magnet out to mine the insatiable upwardly mobile urban house party market. But as he proved on his South African Music Award-winning album Home Brewed, this DJ and producer defies convention. Sidestepping Afro-house clichés and stage-managed highs in favor of restrained sophistication, Black Coffee's penchant is for true Afropolitan house: home-brewed but fresh and future-focused. Expect almost sculptural balance and beauty.

The only thing that keeps Detroit Swindle (Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets) from actually being from Detroit is that they are born and raised in Amsterdam, a little over 6000 kilometers away. So even though they’ve got their 4 feet firmly positioned on Dutch soil, their heads and hearts are rooted deep into the soul of the motor city.

Joey Negro is the most well known pseudonym of master British DJ, producer and remixer Dave Lee. Under a plethora of other monikers including Jakatta, Akabu, Doug Willis, Raven Maize, The Sunburst Band, Sessomatto and Z Factor, Dave was one of the first artists to incorporate disco samples in house music when he began his production career in 1990. Indeed, he was in the studio making credible and outstanding British House music when many luminaries around him were still busy getting to grips with their decks.

The Blessed Madonna
An increasingly respected DJ, known for uplifting sets that balance established anthems with idiosyncratic selections. She's an accomplished producer, too, with a string of irresistible tracks—‘Exodus’ and ‘A Jealous Heart Never Rests’ among them—that still get plenty of airtime two years later. Then there was her position as the talent buyer at Chicago's Smart Bar, one of the best clubs in North America, which has arguably become even more noteworthy under her direction.

Hunee began his musical adventure heavily into hip hop and rap, and as he dug further into the breaks and samples of his favourite producers, he fell deeper into the disco rabbit hole. After DJing and working at various record stores around Berlin, and meeting many of the city’s other music nerds, Hunee began to produce his own tracks. Releasing across a variety of labels such as Prins Thomas’ Internasjonal, Rush Hour, Ostgut Ton, W.T., and Permanent Vacation, Hunee’s craftily-sampled tracks, such as Rare Silk and Brother are packed full of disco sensibility and dancefloor dynamism, falling timelessly between respectful homage and modern day revamp.

Mo Kolours is a half-Mauritian, half-English producer, singer and percussionist. On his self-titled debut album he displays dazzling inventiveness and joyous spirit – unsurprising for someone raised on the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Lee Perry and A Tribe Called Quest while remaining ever curious about his Indian Ocean roots. The album Mo Kolours follows a trilogy of EPs for One-Handed Music that mixed soul, dub, hip-hop, various electronic styles and the Sega music native to Mauritius. Recognising Mo’s singular voice Gilles Peterson invited him to Maida Vale Studios to record a live session for the BBC before his first EP had even hit the shelves. Now Mo counts the likes of Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Friendly Fires’ Jack Savidge among his fans.
