Abigail's Party

This play is a suburban (the London side of Essex) comedy of manners and is a satire on the aspirations and tastes of the new 70’s middle class.

Beverly has invited her new neighbours, Angela and Tony, over for drinks. She has also invited divorced neighbour, Sue, whose daughter, Abigail, is having her first teenage party and Mum is best not there.

The gathering starts off in a stiff, insensitive, British way as the virtual strangers tentatively begin to interact until the obsessions, fears, prejudices and competitiveness, fuelled by alcohol, is ruthlessly exposed.
