Stravinsky: A Soldier's Tale
By arrangement with Wellhayes Vineyard, we present a fully dramatised performance of this iconic work. Written towards the end of the First World War it tells the story of a soldier searching for meaning in his life.
With a libretto by Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz, Igor Stravinsky scored the music for a small group of 7 instrumentalists together with three speaking parts and a dancer.
The work will be performed in English in the translation made in 1955 by Michael Flanders and Kitty Black.
Directed by Martin Harvey and the Clayhanger Ensemble - conducted by Matthew Scott Rogers.
There will be an audience Q &A after the performance.
