Viva Verdi
After the enormous success of his opera Nabucco in 1842, almost overnight Verdi became a household name and a symbol of Italian unification, with cries of ‘Viva Verdi!’ resounding throughout the land. Swansea City Opera pay tribute to the composer in an evening of arias, duets, ensembles and orchestral pieces embracing his most popular operas and lesser known gems – all presented in an informative and entertaining way by Artistic Director, Brendan Wheatley. He is joined by the acclaimed Swansea-born soprano Angharad Morgan, tenor John Hudson, a longstanding principal with both Welsh and English National Opera, and a chorus of singers who have worked with major opera houses across Britain.
Swansea City Opera
Described in the Times, as 'a visionary touring company'.
