Philip Clark

This year’s lecture, presented by the Friends of the Festival, will be given by the distinguished music commentator and journalist, Philip Clark. Philip will discuss the classical music concert experience in the 21st century, asking questions about whether it is still relevant, and whether it satisfies the needs of audiences today. Does the presentation of the music need to change to suit our contemporary appetites, or do we need to re-learn how to enjoy something that has existed for centuries? What should an exciting 21st century concert look, feel, and sound like? Philip Clark offers some strident opinions.
