A Sunday morning treat in the company of one of the rising young stars of British piano music. A strong vein of youthful vivacity runs through the works of Beethoven and Mendelssohn. Beethoven’s sonata is filled with good humour and crazy twists and turns whilst Mendelssohn’s Rondo Capriccioso bursts with wit and fire. Clare rounds off with an astonishing tour de force from Scriabin, a landmark work he described as “a great poem for the piano”.
