Sunderland Comedy Festival 2013: Jason Cook, Steffen Peddie
The Sunderland, Comedy Combover Festival, will run from June 30th - 7th July 2013 across the City Of Sunderland utilising various venues and will be run by a variety of North East comedy promoters and Comedy Clubs.
Be ready for pretty much anything when Jason Cook takes to the stage. Behind his cheerful Geordie exterior lurks a dark, sharp comedic mind capable of taking an unsuspecting audience to places they didn't want to go. Dwarves, newspaper vendors, the toilets at raves, true-to-life stories that drag you in and won't let go. Cook is close to the edge but always intriguing and blessed with the sort of charm that'll have you laughing in spite of yourself.
'A wonderfully life-affirming, beautifully crafted, total and utter joy. My jaw aches from laughing' (Time Out)
'Few people have his warmth and spontaneity; it's an act you'd gladly watch again and again' (The Skinny).

Returning to stand up after a 8 year break as a Pro Wrestler has found Steffen a little older, wiser
and bigger than before, but still ready to find the lighter side of any subject or audience member
thrown at him.
Prior to his time away Steffen had been performing for several years in the North of England. An original member of Newcastle Upon Tyne’s "Near The Knuckle" team with such luminaries as Anvil Springstein, Vladamir McTavish, Gavin Webster and Ross Noble, he brings a different approach to whatever venue he performs at.
With Ross Noble, the two wrote and performed sketches on ITV’s children’s Saturday Morning
show Gimme 5 for a season as well as doing a health and fitness show called Burst! for ITV as
well as numerous regional shows in the North East. Now back doing stand up he is one of the
regular comperes at the Funny Bones chain of clubs in the North East as well as getting booked as either a 20 to 30 minute slot or as MC in other clubs. He is the worlds first Fat Mime artist and has won the Literature North East’s "New Word Order Slam"
“He holds the audience's attention throughout and leaves the stage with me wanting more” - BBC
“A fresh emerging Geordie talent” - Metro
“Johnny Vegas may still hold the fat gags crown, but Peddie would make a worthy understudy” - The Journal
