As Jack the Ripper’s reign of terror fades, a much more insidious and prolific murderer remains on the loose in and around Bristol, Cheltenham and Gloucester.
Amelia Dyer finds loving homes for children whose mothers can’t support them. In the absence of paternal responsibility and with abortion illegal, business is booming, but it’s also challenging. Who is the mysterious governess who stalks Amelia at every turn and why is her daughter so keen to make her own way in life? The answers only begin to emerge when a carpet bag is fished from the Thames.
A timely true tale of what can happen when society ignores the rights of mothers.
Not suitable for under 12s.
