Knickerbocker Glories

A century ago there were over 200 female playwrights writing to support the suffrage cause. Come and see four of their very best one-act comedies!

Marking the centenary of the Representation of the People Act 1918, four short Suffragist/Suffragette plays come to Strode Studio. Selected from works created for and by the Actresses Franchise League 1908–1913, they were revived by Naomi Paxton in 2010 as Knickerbocker Glories. These plays provide a glimpse into the period’s theatre styles and reveal the complexity of opinions during the struggle for equal representation.
