Elizabeth Chivers, Rico Gerber

Classical pieces, performed by acclaimed Contralto, Elizabeth Chivers and guests. Solo pieces range from Brahm’s Sapphische Ode and Wagner’s Schmerzen, to Vaughn William’s Silent Noon; and original arrangements by South African composer Rico Gerber. Duets with Guest Soprano Sarah Westwood include Barcarolle from Offenbach’s Contes d’Hoffman and Evening Prayer from Hansel and Gretel.

Elizabeth Chivers studied with John Mitchinson and Pamela Cook MBE at Birmingham Conservatoire, and in London with Jennifer Dakin. She has performed internationally in Concert Halls, Cathedrals and Theatres, including the Linbury Studio at the Royal Opera House. Elizabeth regularly guests as a Soloist for celebrity Memorial Services, including Danny La Rue, Sir Alec Guiness, Michael Williams, and most recently Frank Finlay. Elizabeth is Musical Director of her own Ladies Septet, Kirklands Singers.

Rico Gerber is a pianist, composer and teacher; regularly performing as a soloist and accompanist to vocalists and choirs. His Rituals of Birds was performed by Helston Chamber Choir and Autumn Concerto by the St Mewan Sinfonia in 2014.

Sarah Westwood studied at Birmingham Conservatoire and Royal Academy. She spent eleven years with Italian Baroque music ensemable Borromini. Her recordings include Bach’s Christmas Oratorio for Classic FM and a collection of Haydn songs.
