The Spitfires (4)

The Spitfires were the stand out band of Stockton Calling earlier this year for their performances at The Arc & Sound It Out Records (the latter of which especially has gone down in Teesside folklore). They have already toured with Paul Weller and The Specials and are generally regarded as being at the forefront of the New Mod movement that is taking off around the country. They have sold out shows all over the UK and played several prestigious festivals in Europe, particularly Spain where they have a large dedicated following.

Billy Sullivan, the lead singer/guitarist and chief songwriter is already being talked about as the new spokesman for his generation, similar to Paul Weller & Joe Strummer were many years ago. And while his and his band's sound and presence definitely take inspiration from those giants, they are no nostalgia band. Billy's lyrics in particular deal very much with the trials & tribulations of 2015's youth.
