Doune the Rabbit Hole is an intimate, independent music & arts festival located amidst the glorious ancient oak trees of the Cardross Estate in Port of Menteith.
DTRH started life in 2010, at a site near Doune (hence the name) and has since been celebrating the very best of Scotland’s independent/DIY arts scene alongside amazing international guests each summer.
It’s not all about the music either! This year’s festival will include a huge kid’s area, spoken word tent, workshops, a cinema and delicious local food, ciders and craft ales.

Brighton's seminal folk-rock outfit formed by Mark Chadwick and Jeremy Cunningham in the late 80s who take their name from the 17th century radical democracy movement. Over the years they've become a staple on festival bills with their crowd pleasing blend of fiddles, guitars and biting political lyrics. Their 14 top 40 singles include the perennial anthems 'One Way', 'Hope Street' and 'What A Beautiful Day', which inspired the name for their annual curated music festival; 'Beautiful Days'.

This is the Kit is the musical project of Paris-via-Bristol singer/songwriter Kate Stables who sings and plays banjo and guitar, sometimes solo and other times in other guises: duo, psychedelic rock-formation, 4-4-2, unplugged acoustic gigs, choir workshops, home shows, busking etc. If you thought you didn’t like the banjo, This Is The Kit will prove you wrong as Kate rips forward with a hypnotic twang pattern and a voice of rare beauty, accompanied by a backing band of minimal psychedelia.

Steeped in a stunning catalogue of proud and stirring hit songs such as ‘Fields of Fire’, ‘Chance’, ‘In A Big Country’ (which sold 2 million), ‘East Of Eden’ and their biggest UK hit ‘Look Away’, along with massive albums such ‘The Seer’, ‘Steeltown’, ‘Peace In Our Time’ and the triple Grammy –nominated, ‘The Crossing’, Big Country continue to look beyond the next horizon.
The band – Bruce Watson (guitars/vocals); Mark Brzezicki (drums, vocals); Jamie Watson (guitars/vocals) will be augmented on stage by singer/guitarist Simon Hough and bassist Scott Whitley.
Formed in 1981 by guitar playing founder members, the late Stuart Adamson and Bruce Watson, both native of the band’s hometown Dunfermline in Scotland. Initially driven by a shared vision of widescreen guitar melody, harmony and lyric, the classic Big Country sound was further enhanced later that summer by the arrival of drummer Mark Brzezicki and bass player Tony Butler. This is the Big Country that (with Producer Steve Lillywhite), recorded the classic debut album ‘The Crossing’ in 1983.
The band broke massively worldwide with the release of the album’s classic singles ‘Fields Of Fire’, ‘Chance’ and signature song ‘In A Big Country’, which went on to become massive worldwide hits, selling over 2 million copies and driving ‘The Crossing’ to 3 prestigious Grammy nominations in the USA.
The run of success continued throughout the 1980?s with the release of the anthemic single ‘Wonderland’ and the second album ‘Steeltown’ (1984), which debuted at Number 1 in the UK and contained the hit singles ‘East Of Eden, ‘Just a Shadow’ and ‘Where The Rose Is Sown’.

Taking hip-hop back from the corporate world, MOBO award-winning hip hop artist, writer, poet and educator Kingslee 'Akala' Daley wages war on the mediocre rap industry with his diverse combination of influences including trance, folk, punk and soul.
Over the years Akala has developed a stellar live show with his renowned drummer/award-winning music producer Cassell 'TheBeatmaker' (Plan B, The Streets and Keziah Jones).

The Beat feat. Ranking Roger are known the world over for a string of hit singles, including "Mirror in the Bathroom", "Too Nice To Talk To", "Can't Get Used To Losing You", "Hands off She's Mine" and "All Out To Get You".

These are common themes from Aidan Moffat; since his early days with Arab Strap, he has explored these subjects with a grace and grit that plunges deep into the human soul. But this is no re-hash of the past, rather a further leap forward for Moffat, now teaming up with fellow Scot, singer and guitarist extraordinaire, RM Hubbert, for this new project.

Based on the Isle of Skye, the Peatbog Faeries have been nominated for Best Live Act at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2012 and described as 'the future of Celtic dance music'. They incorporate many influences which take them from traditional jigs and reels through jazz, hiphop, reggae and more. Their inventive and unique approach always brings to their audience a true flavour of traditional Scottish music whilst offering a high octane experience - so be prepared to get on the dancefloor!

In the late 90s Atari Teenage Riot (ATR) emerged out of the electronica genre, to subvert all rules of rock and techno music. The original conception was Alec Empire's and when joined by Hanin Elias, Nic Endo and Carl Crack on stage, the mixed race, mixed sex image of the band provoked people before they even heard the music. The band released three albums throughout the 90s, before finally dissolving in the wake of MC Carl Crack's death just days before September 11th 2001. The band have reformed for 2010, with the American MC CX KIDTRONIK completing the line-up.

One of the country's top reggae and dub acts, founded in 1993 by Greg Roberts and Tim Bran. Their debut album 360° set the stage for the follow up, Second Light, to be cited as a favourite of John Peel's and saw them play at Glastonbury just one year after their formation. Continuing to record and release new music, Dreadzone for many years hosted Dubweiser at Notting Hill Arts Club, and subsequently released Once Upon A Time in 2005. Their continued popularity remains a testament to their presence in British music.

The Big Moon are a young London four-piece consisting of Juliette, Soph, Celia, and Fern. Musically they’re somewhere between PJ Harvey’s more widescreen rock moments and Howling Bells’ ragged intensity, but with a crackling girl-gang energy recalling Elastica.

The band cites Frightened Rabbit and The Twilight Sad as influences, alongside Biffy Clyro's early material.

The Mouse Outfit are a hip hop production team and live band from Manchester founded and run by Chini and Defty.
They have released 2 studio albums ‘Escape Music’ (2013) and ‘Step Steadier’ (2015). The 3rd album is due out in early 2018.
The 2018 new Album tour will be fronted by Berry Blacc, Dubbul O and Ellis Meade and will have Chini on keyboards, Defty on bass, Adisa ‘Deese’ Allen on drums and Phil Ratcliffe on guitar.

Reaching zero to sixty skanking miles an hour in the space of three chords, they are tighter than Fort Knox. Rise Kagona is a guitar hero to many on two continents! The BBC's Andy Kershaw cites him as having changed his life, and John Peel famously interviewed the band from their kitchen. Rise is possibly the only living guitarist attributed with starting a whole new genre 'Harare Jit'.

Carla J. Easton is a singer / songwriter, with a background and education in visual arts, based in Carluke/Glasgow, Scotland.
Her records exemplify Easton's passion for polyphonic melodies, stacked harmonies and studio experimentation. With pure polished pop at their core, Easton's songs are melancholic epics packed into 3 minute synth driven mini dramas.

The Shiverin' Sheiks are a new band playing an exciting mix of Rock 'n' Roll, Country, Gospel and bombastic 50s pop. They represent a collaboration between members of The Bottleneckers / The Five Aces and The Hidden Masters.

The Bookshop Band write songs inspired by books, and perform them at themed literary evenings held at Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights, in Bath (Independent Bookshop of the Year 2008 / 2011). The collaboration was started as part of a plan to help Mr B’s rejuvenate its traditional ‘author evenings’.
The band would read the forthcoming author’s book in advance and write two songs based upon it, to be performed at the start of the evening. Their performances are inextricably linked to the books themselves, as the members of the band take it in turns to describe where the inspiration for each song came from. The band is made up of two British musician / songwriters, Ben Please, and Beth Porter.

The Trongate Rum Riots set sail with their own brand of “hyper-sea shanties” to some of Glasgow’s biggest venues. Since meeting in a water logged lifeboat off the West coast of Scotland, the seven lads and one lass that make up the band have written many folk-punk songs and are currently working on their first E.P.

Dawnings is a Glasgow band formed by singer/songwriter Louise Quinn and musician/producer Bal Cooke. Inspired by the independent spirit of 80s Glasgow, the psychedelic sounds of 60s San Francisco and the motorik rhythm of 70s Dusseldorf, Dawnings combine retro electronics with countrified guitar and melancholic, reverb-soaked vocals.
