John White

Poet, novelist, jazz critic, essayist, photographer and university librarian Philip Larkin once called himself `the thinking man’s Eric Morecambe’.

Certainly his friends, colleagues and correspondents found him entertaining, irreverent and witty. This presentation by John White - a friend and colleague of Larkin at Hull University for 20 years – is illustrated with personal recollections and offers fresh perspectives on the allegedly morose 'Hermit of Hull’.
