Never miss another 'Chas & Dave' show
Back By Demand: Chas & Dave
"Chas & Dave are great musicians and know how to give the audience a good time. They have gained a cult audience of both young and old and due to public demand are to be seen together on stage once more.
Chas & Dave began writing songs together in 1972, having been friends since the early '60s. They reached the top 20 in 1979 with 'Gertcha', which became a nationwide catchphrase. The hits continued to flow, including 'Margate', 'London Girls' and 'Snooker Loopy'. They have also written title songs for TV shows Till Death Do Us Part and Only Fools and Horses.
The first half of the show will consist of Chas & Dave's pub set, ending with Gertcha from 1979 - the start of their success. The second half will feature all their hits since then."
Info provided by the Event Organiser
In the tradition of The Kinks and the Small Faces and around the same time as Ian Dury and Squeeze, Chas and Dave wrote and recorded exceptionally witty songs about life in London, performed with a strong affection for all things English and reminiscent of many of the great Music Hall artists many years previously.
In their case however, the musical accompaniment to their sharply observant material was neither rock nor punk but solid, no-nonsense rock n roll style which had been their background and inspiration!
Chas and Dave disbanded in 2009 following the retirement of Dave Peacock after his wife's death. However, In 2010 the boys announced their return to the live circuit due to huge public support.
