Men Should Weep By Ena Lamont Stewart
Voted one of the 100 greatest plays of the 20th century, Men Should Weep has been performed to great acclaim by the National Theatre Companies of England and Scotland. Shoestring now brings to life the Morrison family, locked in a life of grinding poverty in a 1930s Glasgow tenement. Maggie Morrison, one of the strongest heroines in British drama, keeps her sense of humour as she nourishes a brood of children, an ailing mother-in-law and a jobless husband. Set in winter and ending on Christmas Eve, this play re-affirms family values and the triumph of the human spirit.
