Eden Sessions: Elbow + Jimi Goodwin
Manchester band Elbow have confirmed a second date for the 2014 Eden Sessions, one of just a handful of UK shows they will play this summer.
The show will follow the recent release of their hotly-anticipated sixth studio album The Take Off and Landing of Everything. This latest album follows 2011's platinum-selling Build a Rocket Boys! and 2008's triple-platinum Mercury Music Prize-winning The Seldom Seen Kid.
Following the use of their anthemic One Day Like This during the Beijing Olympics in 2008, the BBC commissioned Elbow to compose the theme for their covering of 2012's London games. First Steps was recorded with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. The band also performed at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics.
Elbow have been lavished with critical plaudits and awards, including a BRIT Award for Best British Group, the NME Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music and two Ivor Novello Awards, as well as being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize on three separate occasions, winning the award in 2008.
The Brit Award winning melancholic and emotional guitar-based band from Manchester, full of romantic realism and epic stadium anthems. Guy Garvey and the boys became the soundtrack to almost every major sporting event, fireworks display or emotional 'journey' on television with their symphonic powerful anthem 'One Day Like This' (plus they recorded 'First Steps' as the BBC theme for the 2012 London Olympics). Their impressive back catalogue includes 6 UK top 10 albums, with 2014's 'The Take Off And Landing Of Everything' and 2017's 'Little Fictions' both reaching the number 1 position.

After four hugely acclaimed releasaes with Doves, including the number 1 albums 'The Last Broadcast' and 'Some Cities', frontman Jimi Goodwin decided to take a break from the band and released his debut solo album in 2014; 'Odludek'. The album includes a collaboration with Elbow's Guy Garvey and is far more eclectic than Doves. Jim's solo material is a heady mystic brew steeped in Northern Soul, southern gospel, hip-hop, psychedelica, ambient, krautrock, dub, funk and acid house. "I wanted it to be like that crazy mixtape you'd make your mate," says Jim.
