Rick Wakeman: The Even Grumpier Old Christmas Show
An evening of music and laughter – and grumpiness! Featuring songs from YES, David Bowie, The Beatles & music with a festive twist.
Rick’s back – and even grumpier than last year! Following 2019’s sell-out Christmas tour, keyboard wizard Rick Wakeman will embark on another festive foray around the UK, visiting some of the cities he didn’t get to the first time around.
The Even Grumpier Old Christmas Show is guaranteed to round off what has been a stressful year for everyone with an entertaining evening of glorious piano music and hilarious fun.
“It’s so difficult to imagine how live music is going to be in the future, but I have to believe that there will be sensible and workable answers to enable us all to enjoy concerts, the theatre and other social events,” says Rick. “So, with my positive hat on, I’m looking forward to a new ‘Even Grumpier Christmas Show’ to hopefully play my part in putting smiles back on all our faces and prepare us for a healthier and continually caring 2021.”
Classically trained pianist, Rick dropped out from the Royal College of Music to forge a career in music. He recorded 'Space Oddity' with David Bowie at the start of a career as a session musician in which he has played over 2000 different songs. A member of The Strawbs, he left to join rock supergroup Yes in 1971 - an association he has maintained irregularly over the subsequent years. Rick has also recorded a number of highly successful solo albums, and has forged a side career as a professional raconteur; most recently as MC for Jongleurs comedy club. Rick's live shows range from rock to classical, from new age and new world music to incredibly funny storytelling.
