Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Khan & Ayaan Ali Khan

One of India’s greatest musicians, Amjad Ali Khan is the unrivalled master of the 19-string fretless North Indian lute called the sarod. Born to Indian music legend Haafiz Ali Khan and heir to illustrious musical lineage that invented the instrument itself, Khan gave his first recital at age 6 and was a national celebrity by his teens.

Marked by a plaintive, almost voice-like sonority and nearly superhuman speed and clarity, Khan’s artistry has gathered legions of fans from all corners of the globe. Over his illustrious career he has recorded dozens of genre-defining albums and received an impressive collection of awards, including the UNESCO Award, and the Padma Vibhushan, the highest civilian honour awarded by the government of India.

Tonight, appearing with his two sons, both virtuosos in their own right, is an opportunity to see this master of the sarod and his family at work.
