The Darkness Of Robins: John Robins
Double Chortle Award winning comedian John Robins – one of the most exciting and distinctive voices in comedy – returns reflecting on love, loss and lamenting the fact he can’t break up with himself.
The stand-up, vibe magnet and London’s saddest DJ™ would love to promise The Darkness of Robins won’t be an hour-long yell of a show, but he can’t. He’ll shout, snarl and sneer in his attempts to grapple with life’s fall-outs in what promises to be a pivotal moment in his being. Powerful, angst-ridden comedy at its finest, this is a must-see from one of the UK’s brightest talents.
John is a comedian, broadcaster and voice over artist based in London. He presents a weekly show on Radio X alongside friend and fellow comedian Elis James. 'The Elis James and John Robins Show' podcast has gained them a devoted following, and is a fixture in the top twenty comedy podcast charts. In 2017 they won The Chortle Award for Best Radio.
John began performing stand-up in 2005 and was an alumni of the legendary 'Bristol Comedy Flat' alongside Russell Howard, Jon Richardson and Mark Olver.
In 2016 Elis and John announced their first major live appearances together. 'The Elis James and John Robins Experience' saw them bring their unique chemistry to venues up and down the country. Demand was unprecedented and tickets for London's Shepherd's Bush Empire sold out in a matter of hours. He is the joint winner of the Edinburgh Comedy Award 2017.
John has appeared on numerous television shows including Mock The Week (BBC2), Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled Series 1 & 3 (Dave), Stand-Up Central (Comedy Central), Russell Howard's Good News (BBC3), Live at The Comedy Store (Comedy Central and Drunk History (Comedy Central).
'One man, one microphone, one fantastically funny show' (Three Weeks)
'A complete and utter natural' (Russell Howard)
'One of the most consistently pleasing hours on the fringe' (The Independent)
