Henry IV
As King Henry IV prepares to defend his crown against his enemies, war is the furthest thing from the mind of his son and heir, Prince Hal. Instead of confronting his duty, the young prince revels in the taverns of London in the company of drunkards and thieves – chief among them his friend, the notorious scoundrel, Falstaff.
Meanwhile growing civil unrest across the country encourages the charismatic Hotspur to spearhead a national rebellion. To help defend his father’s crown, and ensure his own succession, Hal must transform from the errant, rebellious prince into a man of virtue and courage, before Hotspur defeats him at this game of thrones.
Hampshire Youth Theatre’s production of Henry IV Parts 1 and 2 charts the rise of the two bright lights of England’s future – Hotspur and Hal; exploring the weight of youthful responsibility and the fight for paternal approval, as their journeys into manhood alter the fate of the nation.
