Brahms German Requiem

This work has been a lasting favourite with concert audiences since the first performance in its final version in 1868. Scored for orchestra, choir, and baritone and soprano soloists, the work uses biblical verses, chosen by Brahms himself, expressing sorrow and consolation, instead of the usual Latin text of the Requiem mass.
