“Superlative musicians with a deep love and understanding of the dynamics of both modern rock and ancient hillbilly music.” ~ The Times
Hayseed Dixie formed in Tennessee during the summer of 2000. Largely isolated from outside cultural influences, the boys grew up playing the traditional music of their forefathers on banjo, fiddle, mandolin, acoustic guitar and acoustic bass.
All this changed however, when the boys fortuitously discovered some AC/DC vinyls. After spinning these on an old record player, everyone agreed the songs were right fine country music… and that the ‘Lost Highway’ of Hank Williams and the ‘Highway To Hell’ of AC/DC were indeed the same stretch of tarmac!
In 2001 they released their debut album A Hillbilly Tribute To AC/DC. It became a cult hit and they have since branched out playing songs by other rock luminaries, as well as a few original compositions.
Now, 17 years and 14 albums later, with global sales in excess of half a million and over 1,200 live shows in 31 different countries under their belts, Hayseed Dixie are the undisputed creators of the musical genre, Rockgrass. There are many copycats, converts, and disciples out there. Accept no imitations. The boys are back!
