Ravel - Pavane pour une infante défunte
Lalo - Symphonie espagnole

Brahms - Symphony No. 2
One of the most versatile and passionate conductors of his generation, Pablo González has quickly established a particularly strong rapport with the players of the Hallé. He is joined tonight by his Spanish compatriot Leticia Moreno, to perform Lalo’s colourful and virtuosic Symphonie espagnole. It is a work that exuberantly depicts the landscapes, people and folk traditions of their native country.
González conducts Ravel’s typically elegant and very Gallic Pavane. As Brahms composed his Second Symphony he reported that 'melodies flow so freely that one has to be careful not to trample any of them under foot'. Accordingly, it is one of the composer’s most cheerful and genial creations.
