A colourful commentary on the Christmas story
Rich in colourful harmonies, flexible rhythms and carol-like melodies, each part of visionary composer for the organ Olivier Messiaen’s The Birth of the Saviour interprets a different aspect of the Christmas story; from the Virgin Mary’s joy and rapture at the birth of Jesus, to the wonder of the shepherds and the brightness of the angels.
