Green Day

at FlyDSA Arena, Sheffield

This event has been and gone.

Green Day are set to return to the UK in the summer to headline two huge outdoor shows at London’s Hyde Park as well as Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park plus a newly added date at Sheffield Arena on Monday 3rd July!

After topping the charts on both sides of the Atlantic with their current album ‘Revolution Radio’, Green Day’s new single ‘Still Breathing’ is out now.

Produced by Green Day and recorded in Oakland, ‘Still Breathing’ matches its raucous energy with reflective lyrics which seek hope in challenging times. As frontman Billie Joe Armstrong explained to Rolling Stone: “That was a very heavy song. Sometimes I run away from being too heavy. But sometimes it just comes out that way.”

‘Still Breathing’ is taken from the ‘Revolution Radio’ album which is a potent twelve-track blitz of angst-ridden anthems that unites Green Day's fully formed stylistic approach with lyrical themes that address the complexities and uncertainties of modern day existence. Musically, the album is raw, visceral, and fearless - solidifying the band's reign as one of the leading voices in rock music.

The Californian trio of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool have been re-inventing punk since the late 80s. They shifted over 20 million copies of their breakthrough 1994 album 'Dookie', accompanied by the MTV heavy rotation of hit anthems like 'Basket Case' and 'Welcome To Paradise'. With 12 studio albums to their name, they've proved that punk is certainly not dead. Their career took an unexpected turn following 2004's concept album 'American Idiot' when it later spawned a stage musical, at first on Broadway then in the West End. Not even the legacy of the Sex Pistols managed to achieve a jukebox musical! The boys continue to release new albums and play worldwide tours, proving that they are certainly no American idiots.
