'Music is a way to go to a place you've never been before,' says Chango, and so he carries us away with alluring rhythms and mesmeric melodies to a land of red earth, lush vegetation, rivers and waterfalls.

A folk recipe of South American and Spanish flavours peppered with polka overtones from eastern Europe, Chamamé music reflects the different communities that settled in northeast Argentina in the 16th to 19th centuries.

Chango’s sometimes melancholic but always optimistic brand of Chamamé has earned him a BBC World Music Award and a Latin Grammy nomination.
