A Tribute To Peter Cropper

Last year the world of classical music lost one of its most imaginative and inspirational musicians.

Violinist Peter Cropper will be remembered for his enormous contribution to chamber music. For forty years he led the internationally renowned Lindsay Quartet producing in that time a number of critically acclaimed recordings and performances.

Locally, Peter made an enormous impact on music in the city. Not only did he found Music in the Round, but was a long standing supporter and contributor to University music making, through numerous performances and in his role as a Director of Performance.

Through his outstanding musicianship, generosity, and enthusiasm, he truly cultivated ambition and inspired many so young performers to fulfil their potential.

Current and former students, friends and colleagues join in this concert performance which pays tribute to Peter’s work. Music will include Haydn: Farewell Symphony, performances by Peter’s son Martin Cropper (violin) and works composed by George Nicholson and Dorothy Ker for Peter’s 65th birthday in 2010.
