The Pitmen Poets

After a sell-out trip around the UK in 2017, the four folk luminaries who make up acclaimed supergroup The Pitmen Poets return for their last-ever tour in 2019, taking audiences on an epic journey through the life and times of the people who made their living in the Northumberland and Durham coalfields. Ex-Lindisfarne singer and songwriter Billy Mitchell, War Horse’s Songman Bob Fox, leading exponent of Tyneside song Benny Graham and much-covered Durham songwriter Jez Lowe individually and collectively celebrating the triumphs, tragedy, humour and hard times of North-East England's coal mining tradition in an evening of music, song and spoken word. From Billy Elliott to Close the Coalhouse Door, from The Pitmen Painters to When the Boat Comes In, come and hear the songs and stories of the pitmen poets past and present.
