Bob is a failing car salesman and would-be-poet on the fringes of the underworld. Helena is a high-powered divorce lawyer with a taste for other people’s husbands. She’s out of his league, and he’s not her type. But with a Tesco’s bag full of cash, they embark on a lost weekend of debauchery, bridge-burning, car chases, wedding bust-ups, midnight trysts and hungover self-loathing. A quirky and charming collaboration between playwright David Greig (Victoria, Dunsinane, The American Pilot) and singer-songwriter Gordon McIntyre (Ballboy), the joyous pocket romcom Midsummer first opened at the Traverse Theatre in October 2008 and is revived for 2020 by Reform Theatre (Bouncers, Hopeless Romantics, Two, Debt Collectors).
