Bringing Alive Sandwich Heritage presents:
Robbers, Rebels and Royals -An evening with Joglaresa and Nick Hennessey.
With harp, fidel, percussion, bagpipes and voices, early music stars Joglaresa perform songs that challenge the supreme authority of kings, criticise the Roman Curia, and highlight the lives, loves, imprisonment and taxation of ordinary folk at the time of Magna Carta.
They will be joined by harp-playing, folk-singing storyteller extraordinaire Nick Hennessey for a lively programme featuring tales of Robin Hood, King John, outlaws, rebels, social justice and injustice - all interwoven with Joglaresa's electrifying song.
Long deemed to be early music's 'bit of rough', Joglaresa presents songs that celebrate all that is sinful, subversive or downright criminal in music. With more than a passing nod to Iron Maiden, Deep Purple and The Sex Pistols, Joglaresa explore thematic and musical links between songs from The Crusades to the present day. Featuring: Belinda Sykes (voice, bagpipes, director) Sianed Jones (voice, fidel) Angela Hicks (voice, harp) Louise Morgan (percussion, voice) Magnus Mehta (percussion, voice)
