The Red Brick Chamber Sessions
The Red Brick Chamber Sessions is a series of free concerts in partnership with the University of Salford. Involving top class musicians from the BBC Philharmonic, the innovative programming of The Red Brick Sessions continues to weave through this series of shorter, up-close and intimate chamber concerts.
Timeless works are paired with new music, creating an exciting opportunity to observe musicians interact without a conductor to create their own personal performances.
Programme:
In the opening concert of the Red Brick Chamber Sessions, the BBC Philharmonic’s Lucy Baker and John Bradbury join pianist Jakob Fichert and the Lowry Ensemble. British composer Sally Beamish’s sonata 'Winter Trees' and Brett Dean’s 'Berlin Music' are two contemporary works for violin and piano, performed alongside one of chamber music’s most famous works, Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet.
Brett Dean - Berlin Music (2010)
Sally Beamish - Sonata 'Winter Trees'
Brahms - Clarinet Quintet Op. 115
The Red Brick Sessions are brought to you in partnership between the BBC Philharmonic, the University of Salford, Salford City Council and BBC Research and Development.
