The Garden Party
A mix of familiar faces and new names are lined up to entertain you on Sunday, July 13th, as the Rochester Literature Festival’s popular Garden Party takes up residence once more in the Good Intent, John Street, Rochester.
Philip Kane will be joined by fellow Cultured Llama author, Gordon Meade, while Sam Fentiman-Hall will showcase a new short play, Here There Be Monsters. Sophie Williams is taking a break from singing and dancing to share poetry in her own inimitable style, as is award winning playwright, Sarah Hehir. The rapidly-making-a-name-for-himself, Dylan Oscar Rowe, completes the line-up of family friendly writers for what they hope will be another glorious Sunday afternoon.
In between the words, there is enchanting music guaranteed to chill you out. The ever wonderful Gavin Alexander returns, along with the beautiful Tendayi Sutherland and the lyrical, alternative folk of The Flowing. Talented young singer songwriter Sophia Beeby will also appear, with friend Luke Fraser.
Stand up comics, Mat Wils and Nigel Adams are once again hosting, reprising their roles from the first garden party two years ago.
Children are very welcome, as always, with a Poetree Corner offering a chance to create more ‘leaves’ for the Poetree. There will be the usual Open Mic session too – just turn up and add your name to the list on the day. First come first served, as it is a limited time spot.
