Fauré's Requiem
Fauré: Requiem and Cantique de Jean Racine - Schubert: Night Song in the Wood - Brahms: Four songs - Schoenberg: Peace on Earth.
The ever popular Requiem by Gabriel Fauré includes the treble song Pie Jesu made famous by Aled Jones and there are big tunes for the Chorus and baritone soloist. The same beautiful approach to melody permeates the Cantique de Jean Racine. Schubert's Night Song in the Wood and Brahms' Four Songs provide gorgeous music for the men and women of the Chorus respectively. Peace on Earth, written in Schoenberg's late romantic style, was premiered in 1911 and presented a message of comfort and peace in the years just before the First World War.
