To celebrate Shakespeare's birthday, internationally-acclaimed performers Charles MacDougall (Tenor) and Robert Mingay-Smith (Piano) will present a charming afternoon of song that promises "Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not".
In a programme featuring songs by Purcell, Arne, Quilter, Warlock and Finzi - amongst many more - glorious musical settings of Shakespeare's lyrics will be woven together thematically by further poetic offerings from the Bard, read by Elizabeth Magennis (Reader).
'In sweet music is such art, Killing care and grief of heart' - Henry VIII
