The Ultimate End was spawned from Reading’s Bohemian open mic scene, spearheaded by former solo singer/songwriters James and Maija, and propelled by the rhythm section of erstwhile local heroes Desdemona. The Ultimate End established themselves as a must-see act throughout 2013, culminating with a suitably epic headline show at the Club Velocity Christmas Special. They combine the dark electronic textures of Japan and Visitors-era ABBA with the biting pop melodies and flamboyance of Pulp and Suede. They are the disco-biscuit-munching art-pop Arcadia to The Jettes’ Power Station.
