"The Selecter are fronted by the original singing duo of the 2 Tone era Pauline Black & Arthur 'Gaps' Hendrickson. They're here to deliver classic hits like "Three Minute Hero", "Missing Words", "On My Radio", "James Bond" and of course "Too Much Pressure". 2014 is the band's 35th Anniversary and will see them playing dates throughout the UK, including these intimate "Up Close & Personal" events for Grosvenor Casinos. They'll be playing their debut album "Too Much Pressure" in its entirety for the first time ever, as well as UK and European festivals and tours in Australia, USA and the Far East.
2014 sees Neville Staple, 'The Original Rudeboy' and his band perform at these intimate and exclusive events for Grosvenor Casinos. Expect to hear some of Neville's own material, some arrangements of his very favourite old school Ska numbers, as well as some classic hits in the mix."
Info provided by the Event Organiser
Formed in Coventry in 1979 The Selecter spearheaded the 2-tone movement along with The Specials and Madness. Fronted by Pauline Black, they first hit the airwaves with 'On My Radio', followed by countless other hit singles. Mixing punk, ska and reggae, their debut album 'Too Much Pressure' successfully reflected the social and political issues of the early Thatcher years in Britain and gave a voice to disaffected youth across the racial divide.
The band split at the height of their popularity in 1981 but are now reformed and touring again with original lead singers Pauline Black and Arthur 'Gaps' Hendrickson.

The original rude boy, and one of the undisputed forerunners of the ska movement. Best known for being the lead singer of The Specials, Neville is credited with changing the face of pop music not only once but twice. His biography reads like a who's who of rock. Not only has he worked with such legends as Elvis Costello, David Byrne and Ali Campbell but has also shared the stage with ska icons Rankin Roger (English Beat), forming Special Beat. Although this line up never actually recorded an album, they successfully toured the US with Sting and Steel Pulse before embarking on their own headline tour.
