The Logboat Sessions with
Music which combines award winning acoustic song writing with a classical sensibility to create original compositions, musical settings of literature and unique arrangements of traditional folk songs. Louise Jordan’s songs tell tales of universal human experience. Questioning yet reflective Louise Jordan uses simple subject matter to create songs of striking intensity and undeniable familiarity.
Louise plays guitar, piano and cello but it is her voice which is most often celebrated as the pinnacle of her trade mark sound: captivating, powerful and evocative. ‘As a performer, promoter, maker, programmer, facilitator and supporter of music I am constantly in awe of its power to communicate, to challenge and to nourish.’
An independent artist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Louise feels nowhere more at home than on the road in her trusty white van. Louise has completed seven tours across England, Wales and Scotland more recently venturing into Europe with trips to Denmark, Holland and Germany. She has performed at venues ranging from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to the National Theatre on the southbank, from the Royal Albert Hall to the Red Lion Folk Club in Birmingham, from Hot Numbers Coffee in Cambridge to Hanger Farm Arts Centre in Hampshire and the Prince Albert in Stroud: such is the broad appeal of Louise Jordan’s music.
Louise has released four recordings on her record company Azania Records; Born to Wander (2010), Tempvs (2011), Florilegium (2012) and Veritas (2014) earning radio play on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 2 and local BBC and community radio stations across the country as well as an appearance in UK Vogue.
Louise’s gift for empathy and storytelling is due in part to an early career in education and children’s rights as well as her interest in the many ways people overcome life’s challenges. In addition to performing, she continues to share her music through workshops with children, young people and adults through regular music workshops and through forest LIVE, a concert series established in 2012 to bring quality live music and to support local performers in the rural area she calls home whilst also providing opportunities for young people interested in the music industry to gain hands on experience.
