Join Dr Robert Taub and Professor James Daybell for a special evening celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday on Wednesday 16 December. Through discussion and performance, they explore how Beethoven’s cherished musical sketches are at the core of the creative evolution of his art.

Beethoven continually pushed boundaries of artistic perception through musical innovation. As private experiments, his sketches illustrate how his musical ideas developed into the driving force for human expression that he is remembered for today. Robert will perform example pieces of his works while James explores the wider social and historical context, concluding with an audience Q&A.
