Lunchtime Talks: Crown And Colony: Fiji’s History with Britain And Their Ocean Connections

Beginning with missionaries and ocean voyagers, moving into the late 19th century when Fiji was ceded to the British Crown, and continuing to present day, Fiji and Britain have maintained an enriching and complex relationship.

This talk by Katrina Talei Igglesden from the Fijian Art Research Project at the University of East Anglia will focus on the significant history shared between the two countries, highlight Fiji’s rich cultural and artistic traditions and set the scene for the forthcoming ‘Fiji: Ocean Connections’ exhibition (10 October 2015 to 16 January 2016).
