Ryedale Opera

In many ways Handel was the Andrew Lloyd Webber of his day and The Horsecross are thrilled to present Ryedale Opera's fully staged performance of one of his finest operas Alcina with its amazing succession of 'hit' arias.

Alcina is a sorceress. She's also one of Handel's most complex and fascinating anti-heroines - the undisputed star of this hit of the 1735 London season. Written for Covent Garden, it has a compelling plot and richly-drawn characters and some of the most sublime baroque music you could ever hope to hear.
