James Morrison is, by anyone's standards, a virtuoso in the truest sense of the word.
Besides being an accomplished trumpeter, this stunningly versatile multi-instrumentalist also plays piano, saxophones (yes, plural!), double bass, and virtually any brass instrument. At the age of six he began on piano, at seven, he was given his first brass instrument, at nine he formed his first band and at thirteen he was playing professionally in nightclubs. His international career developed just as quickly.
James has gone on to perform with the legends of jazz: Dizzy Gillespie, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Cab Calloway, George Benson, Ray Charles, B.B. King and Wynton Marsalis to name but a handful. He has performed with the world's best orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tonkünstler Orchestra.
Other highlights include performing at the Hollywood Bowl with Bill Cosby's All Stars and Dave Brubeck, guesting with artists as diverse as Phil Collins and Chaka Khan, and composing and performing the opening fanfare for the Sydney Olympic Games.
Join us in James' first visit to Scotland for 20 years where he will be supported by Scotland's most successful brass band, the Co-operative Funeralcare Band.
This virtuoso Australian jazz trumpeter / trombonist / pianist has played with some of the greatest entertainers ever - Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Shaw, George Benson, Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra to name but a few.

Over that time, it has proved to be the most successful band in the history of Scottish brass band music. The band has won the Scottish Championships 31 times and, during the 1990's, twice carried back to Scotland the National Championship of Great Britain - the only Scottish band ever to win this prestigious championship.
