A Royal Geographical Society Lecture

Combine an evening of fine art photography, a year round look at the Lake District landscape, the fell farmers who care for it and its much loved native inhabitant - the Herdwick Sheep. The evening includes a private view of Herdwick - A Portrait of Lakeland with photographer and curator Ian Lawson and a complementary glass of wine. Ian has spent more than 5 years among the farmers and shepherds of the high fells of the Lake District, which has inspired both this exhibition of large format prints and the accompanying book.

There will be an optional Herdwick inspired supper and a lecture by Andrew Humphries MBE who will provide a unique backdrop to the austere beauty of the upland farms and wild grazing lands of the Herdwick Sheep. Ian Lawson will then join Andrew for a Q and A session chaired by Julia Aglionby, Executive Director of the Foundation for Common Land. A book signing in the Bar will conclude the evening.

Photographic Exhibition (5pm -7.30pm) Lecture and Discussion ( 7.30pm).
